Allow 1½ to 2 hours to make the most of your visit
Please note:
- last admission to the monument is one hour before closing time.
- The galleries close progressively 30 minutes before the monument closes
Closed on 1 January, 1 May, 1 and 11 November, and 25 December

- From Saumur: N 147 towards Parthenay, D 938 to Thouars, then D 37 and D 64.
- From Poitiers: N 147 to Loudun, then the D 759 towards Thouars and the D 64.
- From Tours: D 751 to Loudun, D 759 towards Thouars and D 64.
By train
Thouars railway station.
Services and visiting conditions
- Only guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted.
- Prams are permitted in the park.
- Lockers are available at the château on request at reception.
- Accessible toilets.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the site, both inside and outside the monument. Pursuant to Decree No. 2025-582 of 27 June 2025 on smoke-free areas, outdoor public spaces where children and young people may be present or exposed to smoke, in particular public parks and gardens, are designated as smoke-free areas.
